Mark Thomas

Design and Technical Manager

Mark Thomas is recognised as one of the leading pyrotechnicians and special effects designers in the world. He has worked on many large scale events including the Olympic Games, Headline acts at the Glastonbury festival and he has toured with many of the worlds biggest artists and bands such as Take That, Metallica, Britney Spears and more. Mark worked on the Central Show in the Millennium Dome for over a year sometimes firing up to 5 massive shows in a single day. More recently mark has found a new love for theatre and has been working tirelessly to bring new effects – especially propane, safely into the theatres.

 

Mark has worked across all sectors of the entertainment industry including Live events, Corporate, Television and  Film,  of which notable credits include Deadpool and Kenneth Branagh's “The Magic Flute” which featured a spectacular opening scene where high explosive effects are fired to the beats of the music whist hundreds of stunt performers advance on the battlefield.

Illusion Pyrotechnics is excited to welcome Mark Thomas to the company. Mark brings with him a spectacular pedigree in the field of pyrotechnics having worked on many of the worlds largest and most spectacular events. Mark was the head pyrotechnician and outdoor display manager at Le Maitre for 12 years, during this time he was partly responsible for bringing the quality of the products up to standard something which we are excited about here. On joining the company Mark told us:
